Young Audiences of Houston offers family friendly, live art experiences perfect for a wide variety of ages. These interactive workshops and performances last between 60 and 90 minutes and involve YAH artists and ensembles, crossing genres of dance, visual arts, theater, music, and literary arts.
July 29th: Houston Brass Quintet
Houston Brass Quintet is a chamber group in Houston with a focus on diverse music genres, collaboration in the arts community, arts education, and service to those in need in the greater Houston area. Houston Brass Quintet is a permanent part of the Houston Performing Arts and the greater Southern Region in the US. As a non-profit, the chamber ensemble brings high-level chamber music to those who may not normally get that exposure.
August 7th: Pinwheels with Marsha Dorsey Outlaw
Join Young Audiences of Houston Teaching Artist Marsha Dorsey Outlaw in a visual artist workshop! Young Artists of all ages will be creating pinwheels in this hands-on session with Marsha. A pinwheel is a simple child's toy made of a wheel of paper or plastic curls attached at its axle to a stick by pin. This visual arts activity brings art and physics together and is recommended for children age 6 and up.
August 21st: Kinetic Vibez
Kinect Vibez’s yoga element is designed to introduce participants to the basics of the yogic system which includes guided stretches, guided breathing practices, and guided sound-based meditation. Students will learn how to use these practices to develop a strong sense of mindfulness, increase mental and physical flexibility, and take control of any depression, anxiety, or stress they may be experiencing. Through our integrated curriculum, students will understand the correlation between hip-hop culture and yoga. Recommended for ages 5 - adult.
