Join the Houston Center for Photography for educational photography workshops! These community-driven workshops focus on photography as a means for creative expression and acquiring basic photography skills. Learn and practice various aspects of photography such as composition and lighting. No prior experience is required and all levels of proficiency and camera types are welcome. Coming Up:
February 4 – Abstraction: Let’s break away from representational imagery and the history and practice of abstract photography. All camera types are suitable for this workshop. Bring a macro or zoom lens if available.
February 18 – Critique: Learn how to analyze and evaluate your own photographs and those of your peers in preparation for the 2022 Views from Levy Park exhibition. Bring a selection of your work for review, either prints or digital files.
March 4 – Introduction to Landscape Photography: Explore the surrounding natural environment of Levy Park and learn specific composition and focusing tips to landscape photography. We will also talk about lenses!
March 18 – Artist Statement and Biography: Learn how to write a short statement about yourself and your work as an artist in preparation for the 2022 Views from Levy Park exhibition.
April 1 – Creating a Series: Learn how to create and organize multiple photographs which collectively tell a story about one subject or theme.
April 15 – Exhibition: Celebrate the culmination of a year of hard work and creativity! View a selection of your
photographic work created during the 2021-2022 Levy Park Photography Workshop series in the 2022 Views from Levy Park exhibition. Friends and family are welcome!
