Young Audiences of Houston offers family friendly, live art experiences perfect for a wide variety of ages. These interactive workshops and performances last between 60 and 90 minutes and involve YAH artists and ensembles, crossing genres of dance, visual arts, theater, music, and literary arts.

October 4 : Dia de los Muertos with Mixteco Ballet Folklorico

Join YAH Arts Partners Mixteco Ballet Folkorico! for this free dance peformance. Step into a world of vibrant colors, rhythmic beats, and rich cultural traditions with our enchanting dance performance, “Dance of Spirits: A Dia De Los Muertos Celebration Through Movement.” In this mesmerizing tribute to the Day of the Dead, our talented dancers will weave together a tapestry of emotions, stories, and folklore through the language of movement.

October 18 : The Art of Flamenco Dancing with Ana Maria Barcelo

Join YAH Arts Partner Ana Maria Barcelo Flamenco for this free dance workshop. Flamenco is an artistic expression that resulted from the combination of singing, dance, and guitar accompaniment, respectively called cante, baile and toque. Join professional Flamenco dancers and learn more about the beauty, strength, and variety that exists within the Flamenco dance and culture. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation of this art through a brief introduction to the origin and history of Flamenco, as well as an explanation of the performance elements that compose this dance. The participants will complete the program by learning choreographed routines. Also available as a performance, call for details.
